A Feldenkrais® master class for dancers, singers and musicians
Uma masterclasse de Feldenkrais para bailarinos, cantores e músicos
When queried in interview about his preferred form of artistic expression, jazz great Bill Evans declared, “it must be entirely true and entirely real and entirely accurate.” In saying this, he was advocating the type of exploratory zeal and artistic rigor that inevitably emerges when one is guided less by a need to succeed and more by an abiding sense of curiosity, patience, and realism. Lasting and meaningful improvement, Evans believed, tended to occur in small increments, the sum of which could, over time, lead to leaps in both technical skill and artistry.
In this half-day workshop, we will take a deeper look into the meaning of true, real, and accurate expression by exploring various ways of moving around novel constraints, as well as responding to them. In the process we will depart from some of our habitual patterns of expression and discover fundamentally new possibilities, not only for moving our bodies in particular, but of approaching movement in general.
